【Kaywoodie】美國老品牌煙斗製造集團旗下品牌，石楠木小鷹直斗。

保存良好完整度優，已依手工斗工法工序整體大翻新完畢外觀超美。

燃燒室與斗缽口沒燒蝕碳化崩塌，斗身金屬重新拋光外觀光可鑑人。

斗長 : 14.5，  斗高 : 3.9，  斗寬 : 3.2，  斗口 : 2.0 公分。

屬小型斗，一斗菸草可享受30分鐘(視有無助燃網或斗主技術增減)。

煙道頭段4mm鑽孔，榫頭為無慮心設計(附毛刷)，斗嘴末端2mm收尾。

斗身不種非常輕盈；適合長時間叼斗不嘴酸，斗缽為可拆卸清洗式。

Kaywoodie began as a line of pipes offered by KB&B (Kaufman Brothers & Bondy) in 1919 (see also Dinwoodie). Ultimately, KB&B changed its corporate name to "Kaywoodie". It became a brand of S. M. Frank & Co from March 1955.

Kaywoodie seconds: Bentley US, Devonshire

The cloverleaf logo: the round logo (black cloverleaf in white circle  or white cloverleaf in black circle ) was first used in 1937. Up until the late 40's this logo was used on all of the upper grades pipes. The concomitant use of the plain white cloverleaf and the disk inlaid logo continued untill the early 80's.

Up until the late 1940's/early 50's, the logo was on top of the stem. After that the logo was moved to the side of the stem (exceptions exist).

The white logo has the shape of the Drinkless systeme (see dok) which equipped these pipes from 1924. This Shellcraft has a push tenon and was thus crafted prior to 1930.

No KB&B clover stamped on the shank.

Push tenon and Drinkless stinger

This pipe is marked with "Drinkless" on the shank, on the stem and on the stinger. It doesn't have the KB&B shamrock logo nor any "Kaywoodie" stamping. Nevertheless its caracteristics allow to identify it as an early Kaywoodie:

• A 2 digits shape number (17 = Dublin): period 1924-1929)
• A push tenon: pipe manufactured prior to 1929

The "Premier" line was produced only during a year: 1928

From 1924 to 1929 (about) Kaufmann Brothers & Bondy (KB&B) stamped a 2 digit code on the pipes (29 in this case) to indicate their shape. The fact this pipe dates from this period is also confirmed by a push stem. It illustrates a test period coming first to a Kaywoodie line and followed by the Kaywoodie brand.

Due to its "Drinkless" stamping this pipe is reported in the Kaywoodie section and not in KB&B's.

▲ "KBB" inside clover stamped on the shank was canceled in 1933.

The lack of "PAT. APP. FOR" stamping would indicate the synchrostem patent was allready granted (1932) when this pipe was crafted.

Thus this pipe may be dated rather precisely.

The clover stamp with the KBB initials on the shank indicates a pipe crafted in the old KB&B plant at Union City (NJ) prior to 1933.

The first Super Grains appeared in late 1931 or early 1932. They are the only pipes Kaywoodie produced with the shamrock inlaid in the shank and not on the stem.

Shank embedded logos were stoped by 1938.

Differentiate an early Super Grain from a post WWII Super Grain.

The shape called "President" is a Kaywoodie's distinctive production. It has never been copied.

Until late 1930's pipes were stamped with a 4 digit code (this pipe: 7793).

• The first 2 numbers (77) designate the style or finish.
• The last 2 are the shape numbers (93).
• The numerical code may be reinforced by a letter for variants.

Thus the small "President" pipes are stamped 93S while the larger bear a 93L (see also this Super Grain pipe).

Later Kaywoodie will cancel the 2 first style/finish numbers keeping the 2 last shape numbers and the letter for variants (i.e. Allbriar or Connoisseur).

 

Early Suntan

Kaywoodie 是個知名的老品牌煙斗製造廠，

早期更隸屬於知名的煙斗集團 KB&B 。

該廠縱橫美洲近一個世紀，

該品牌40~50年代老商標煙斗...更是老骨董市場的寵兒。

小鷹型煙斗曾瘋迷過一段歲月，

在美國購買時可另加購數個活動斗缽...

但是小鷹斗在台灣就沒這福利了。

尤其小鷹型煙斗現今已沒啥廠商生產，

所以此型煙斗幾近絕響...想擁有更不容易了。

此斗為老娘的御用煙斗，

此斗釋出前已整體大翻新完畢...顏質爆美 !

對收藏迷來說.....趕緊收藏，

還想找支相同的型號.....是非常難的。

此斗抽斗品質非常過癮...

但是千萬別猛抽讓菸草燃燒過旺，

否則斗缽底下會非常燙的 !

冷吸法沒練到純熟抽小鷹斗...是很吃虧滴，

義大利早期斗廠出品，石楠木製鑲崁海泡石內鍋加皮革包覆口袋斗。

保存良好完整度優，重新內外整理煙斗本身還非常新整理不太傷神。

斗身原廠打印在皮革上，因為打印很淺目前已無法辨認廠牌等資訊。

斗長 : 12.5，  斗高 : 3.5，  斗寬 : 3.8，  斗口 : 1.5 公分。

屬口袋斗，一斗菸草可享受20分鐘(最適合繁忙社會短時間抽斗用)。

煙道頭段3mm鑽孔，榫頭為倒插3mm中段無濾心，斗嘴末端~2mm收尾。

攜帶性超方便(俗稱口袋斗)，夾克口袋一塞還可當冬天暖暖包使用。

非常適合新手使用，海泡石內鍋可克服新手們燒毀煙斗的恐懼疑慮。

這支口袋斗可能動用到三個國家混血而成，

海泡石由土耳其提供(包括車成碗型)。

石楠木可能由第三國斗廠製造，

最後由義大利縫製皮革完成作品。

許多斗廠生產的雕刻斗和皮革斗...

都是委請義大利代工生產的。

有海泡石內鍋加上皮革包覆的煙斗...

在製作工藝上較為繁複，相對等級也較高些。

因為原材料就有適當的複雜性，

願意製作這麼完美組合的斗廠並不多。

所以此斗可說是非常難得的一個完美結晶，

接觸煙斗40餘年這種製造過程了然於胸。

毛胚後2/3工程在台灣~以"手工斗工法工序"完成，外觀平整超漂亮。

斗缽燃燒室內未塗保護碳層，出貨前您可要求塗碳(此服務為免費)。

斗長 : 14.0，  斗高 : 3.9，  斗寬 : 3.2，  斗口 : 1.7 公分。

屬中型斗，一斗菸草可享受30分鐘(視有無助燃網或斗主技術增減)。

煙道頭段4mm鑽孔，榫頭中段濾心處3mm設定，斗嘴末端~以2mm收尾。

斗身重量超輕；適合長時間叼斗不嘴酸，傳統造型適合內斂型斗主。

老娘年紀越大越喜歡"傳統斗型"，

保存良好完整度優，已依"手工斗工法工序"整體大翻新畢典雅迷人。

燃燒室與斗缽口沒燒蝕碳化崩塌，斗嘴手工打磨烏黑晶亮沒有咬痕。

斗長 : 13.3，  斗高 : 4.5，  斗寬 : 3.4，  斗口 : 1.9 公分。

屬中大斗，一斗菸草可享受45分鐘(視有無助燃網或斗主技術增減)。

煙道頭段3mm鑽孔，榫頭中段濾心處3mm設定，斗嘴末端~以2mm收尾。

斗身重量輕盈；適合長時間叼斗不嘴酸，乾燥清涼舒爽特性超迷人。

因戰亂年代久遠，原廠資料已無法查明，但無損好木料好手工氣質。

應該是德國邊境法語區(早年煙斗製造重鎮)產物，

斗身石楠木年格夠老，材質非常細密緊實。

拋光後鏡面效果非常漂亮，

Portland 是間混血公司，起始於英格蘭...

卻在義大利製造，產權卻屬於丹麥。

這種現象普遍處在早期西方的商業模式，

再加上斗型屬"加拿大斗型"讓人.....一整個暈 !

加拿大斗型因為煙道頭段較長，

入嘴菸氣有著較乾爽清涼特性...擁護者非常多。

但是因為石楠木材料年年瘋漲，

一體成形較費材料的加拿大型煙斗...幾近成為絕響。

此斗釋出前已整體手工大翻新過，

手工翻新細節處理得很好...完勝原出廠狀態，

品質與一流手工斗的品質...毫無二致。

斗體被菸油養得非常漂亮，

充滿古色古香的斗體令人愛不釋手 !

在二戰前後石楠木取得困難年代...

更發明了複合材料(Brylon)製造煙斗。

產品價位定價親民，所以流傳使用非常普遍。

此斗的老石楠木年格夠老非常細密緊實，

紋路清晰深邃...拋光後鏡面效果超優 !

金屬兩片式榫頭...可輕鬆調整榫頭鬆動問題，

只需用尖嘴鉗戳入煙道中段微微撐出~即可修正榫頭鬆緊。

因為是金屬榫頭；所以可熱插拔斗嘴清理菸草阻塞，

如果習慣使用助燃網...便可避免菸草吸入煙道造成阻塞。

非常實用的早期老古董煙斗真材實料，

原製造廠已關閉；此斗為未來得及完工之庫存毛胚斗，毛胚後續2/3

who came to USA in 1968. He founded his own company in 1982.

A great part of the pipes are made in Italy by Barontini or,

according to J.M. Lopes op. cit., by L'Anatra.

Dr. Grabow pipes began with Louis B. Linkman († 1957), of the M. Linkman and Co. of Chicago in 1932 (Pat # 1 896 800). Linkman and Co. ceased producing the Dr. Grabow pipes around 1953. After this date the brand was owned by Henry Leonard and Thomas (HLT), Inc. of Queens, New York and produced by Sparta Pipes Inc.
In 1969, US Tobacco acquired Sparta Pipes and rights to Dr. Grabow.
Lane Ltd. acquired the Dr. Grabow property from US Tobacco. Lane Ltd. came under ownership of RJ Reynolds and British American Tobacco in about 2000.
Dr. Paul E. Grabow died in 1965 at age 97.

The earliest Dr. Grabow pipes are stamped with both Linkman's and Dr. Grabow, described as Bruyere, or Italian Briar.

Pre-1944 model names included the SPECIAL, the DELUXE (this pipe), and the SUPREME.

The Linkman's stamp was discontinued around 1944.

Linkman's Dr. Grabow pipes are also stamped with a 4-digit code indicating the model and shape.

MAIDA VALE CORSICAN BRIAR - FRANCE (CLEAN)

This a Maida Vale "Corsican Briar" made in "France".The irony in this is that Maida Vale is a London suburb yet the pipe was made in France according to its stampings. I could find no provenance on the pipe.I have had the bowl for several months and finally found a stem that could be adapted to it. The bowl is made of Corsican Briar, thought by many pipe makers over the years to be one of the rarer and better of all Mediterranean briars for making pipes.For that reason and in spite of a surface scortch on the bowl, I kept it and restemmed and restored it. It should make an excellent smoker and with its extra three or four decades of aging should be well cured.This is simply a good pipe, the briar well cured, and the pipe restored well.The air channel through the shank has been hand rebored to 5/32 of an inch.Its briar has been treated with a hand-rubbed coat of caranuba wax.I don't smoke dirty pipes, therefore I don't sell dirty pipes. I use nothing but non-toxic biodegradable products in refurbishing pipes. This one had been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized and is ready to smoke.This pipe is 6-1/4 inches long. Achille Savinelli Sr. opened in Milano (1876) a store dedicated to smokers. In 1890 his son Carlo Savinelli succeeded him for about 50 years. The grandson of the founder, Achille Savinelli Jr. (1918-1987) in association with Enea Buzzi started pipe production in Brebbia. They split in 1953, Savinelli setting up its own factory in Molina di Barasso.

Giancarlo Savinelli (4th Savinelli's generation) is currently (2011) managing the company.

is now operated by Jeff Steinbock, one of his former employee.

義大利早期斗廠(已關閉)庫存半成品煙斗，石楠木製傳統直式煙斗。

粗胚後2/3工序皆在台灣...以手工斗工法工序完成，品質細膩完美。

橢圓型斗缽流行於50~70年代，燃燒室也是橢圓型~使用與圓形無異。

斗長 : 15.0，斗高 : 4.7，斗寬 : 3.5x4.1，斗口 :1.7x2.2公分。

此斗因為原廠尚未完工即關廠，

所以半成品煙道沒有打印落款(最後一道工序)。

斗身的老石楠木年格夠老，

材質非常細密緊實，拋光後鏡面效果超優。

此斗型超經典，老娘日常用斗也有一支。

抽斗方式與感覺與一般煙斗無異，

但是橢圓的造型還蠻搶眼的，

潛水岸邊休息抽斗，或高山溪谷吉普越野野溪泡湯...

這種造型煙斗常引起比基尼辣妹.....(幻想中) !
